What's involved?

The role - As the key leadership discipline in any construction project, construction management involves stamping your influence and ideas on a great variety of areas. From very early on you will:

    • Plan projects before building begins alongside Surveyors, Engineers and Architects
    • Manage sub-contractors to ensure work is completed on time and to the highest standards
    • Oversee health, safety and environmental management issues

Your career path - You will receive all the support you need to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Complete this training and a wealth of opportunities will open up for you. You could go on to become a Project Director with direct accountability for the success of a series of multi-million pound projects.

Your qualities - To excel, you will need to combine teamwork, leadership, organisation and time management, with strong technical knowledge of relevant construction and commercial practices. Being able to communicate effectively is also important.
