Technology Centre Attains UKAS Accreditation For New Acoustic Facility

The Technology Centre now offers the UK’s only UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services) accredited Rain Noise testing laboratory. The new rig is designed to test for rain noise on roofs (BS EN ISO 140-18:2006). Rain noise is referred to in Building Bulletin 93 (Acoustic Design of Schools) and this facility will enable designers to validate acoustic performance of products which may assist in obtaining BREEAM credits.

In addition our acoustic flanking rig has also achieved UKAS accreditation and as such is the only accredited facility for testing of facades in the UK. We are able to carry both horizontal and vertical flanking tests (BS EN ISO 10848) on full scale cladding & curtain wall samples.

This combined rig is located within our 3600m2 indoor testing building. The Technology Centre accommodates the most extensive cladding and curtain wall test facility in Europe.
